We launched a version of Intellix Hub in 2025. It was smaller, rougher, and built with a more limited vision of what we were trying to do. Within a few months of going live, we paused it.
This is the honest version of why.
Where we started
The original idea was simple: build a better marketplace for remote professionals. We had all seen how broken the existing platforms were — opaque fees, race-to-the-bottom pricing, profiles that looked like they were designed in 2011. We thought we could do better.
And in many ways, the early version worked. Professionals created profiles. Clients posted jobs. The foundation was there. The product functioned. But as we watched real users interact with it, we started to see a gap between what we had built and what we actually wanted to build.
The early version was technically a marketplace, but it wasn't what we had in mind when we talked about what Intellix Hub could be. It felt too regional. Too narrow. Too much like a slightly better version of something that already existed, rather than something genuinely new.
What we learned during the pause
We spent time studying what frustrated professionals and clients about the current landscape.
A few things came through consistently:
- Professionals felt invisible. They had built real skills and real track records, and the platforms they used made that hard to see.
- Clients felt uncertain. They didn't know how to trust someone they'd never met, and the platforms did little to help them.
- Everyone was confused about money. What was the fee? Who paid it? How did payments work? Nobody could explain it simply.
- The design of most platforms communicated that the work being done was low-stakes and interchangeable. That felt disrespectful to the people doing the work.
We went back and asked ourselves a harder question: not "how do we make the platform slightly better?" but "what would a marketplace look like if it was built by people who genuinely respected the professionals on it?"
The new vision
Intellix Hub is built around one simple belief: great talent exists everywhere. Not just in the obvious cities or the well-known markets — but in every timezone, in every country, in every corner of the world where someone has put in the work to become genuinely good at what they do.
We are building a platform where those professionals can be found, paid fairly, and trusted completely. Where clients can hire with confidence and professionals can work without compromise.
That is the vision. We are still building toward it — and we are building it honestly.
What's different now
Global from day one
The early version focused heavily on one region. The new platform is designed for built for global use from day one, with infrastructure designed to handle international payments and compliance as we grow.
Zero fees during early access
No platform fees while we build the community. Fees will be introduced later with full advance notice to all users.
Better technology
We rebuilt on a proper stack — Next.js, Supabase, and modern payment infrastructure. These aren't cosmetic choices. They mean faster performance, better security, and a payments system that can handle global volume at scale.
Quality over quantity
We review every professional profile before it goes live. We're not optimising for the largest possible number of profiles — we're optimising for the highest possible average quality.
Design that respects professionals
The editorial aesthetic is intentional. We wanted the platform to feel like a place that takes the work seriously. That meant typographic investment, thoughtful layout, and refusing the visual conventions of marketplaces that treat professional work like a commodity.
What's coming next
We're currently in early access. The platform is live and functional, but we're growing deliberately — onboarding professionals and clients in stages so we can maintain quality at every step of the experience.
Over the next year, we're building: a professional endorsement system that makes peer reputation visible, direct team hiring (for clients who want ongoing relationships rather than one-off projects), and deeper analytics for professionals who want to understand how their profile is performing.
